SAFETY

Safety is a top priority at both Dandy Oil and Matonabee Petroleum, and we take pride in our safety record. We believe that no job is worth doing unless we do it safely. Our COR Certified Safety Program is designed to meet and exceed all Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislation.

Dandy Oil and Matonabee Petroleum are committed to the ongoing improvement of a healthy, safe, and environmentally sound workplace for our employees, customers, contractors, visitors, and the public. Our Health and Safety Program meets all of the basic requirements of the Alberta Resources and Employment “Partnerships Health and Safety Program” and the Northwest Territories Health and Safety Requirements.

Dandy Oil and Matonabee Petroleum believe in controlling accidental loss incidents through good management and active employee involvement. All managers are responsible for the health and safety of every person on our work sites. All employees, contractors and sub-contractors will correctly perform their jobs, following established procedures and safe work practices.

Among the many components, the comprehensive EH&S Program encompasses safe work practices, hazard assessments, site orientations, pre-work safety meetings and on-the-job training. The goal is to prevent workplace accidents, injuries and downtime by training employees to follow proper job procedures, recognize potential hazards and identify methods to control/eliminate them. Essentially stop accidents before they happen.

All equipment is subject to regular safety inspections, maintenance and mechanical certification.

Dandy Oil and Matonabee Petroleum are sensitive to environmental awareness and preservation. We educate and train our employees to perform their jobs in an environmentally friendly manner.

Minimizing the Risk of Injury & Illness

A health and safety management system is a process put in place by an employer to minimize injury and illness risk and made possible by identifying, assessing, and controlling risks to workers in all workplace operations.

An effective health and safety management system must have the following 10 components in place:

  • Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee (HSC) and Health and Safety Representatives (HS Representatives)

  • Other Parties at or in the Vicinity of the Work Site
